Winter Update - Spring is Near

2021 is off to a busy start here at Elevate Youth! A couple months in, we find ourselves more motivated than ever to grow our impact and meet the rising need of our communities. With strong partnerships, community support, and a new E.A.T. initiative in full swing, we are uniquely positioned to do just that. We're excited to bring you along!

Here are a few highlights...

This past month we delivered our first installments of our E.A.T. Well Boxes to families across Boston. These boxes, created in collaboration with Katsiroubas Produce, contained all the ingredients needed for a live cooking demonstration with Chef Tamika Francis of Food & Folklore!

Tamika led our young people through a culinary exploration of black eyed peas and their heritage in black history. Her zoom class included demonstration, storytelling, & nutritional information about the recipe. If you'd like to give it try yourself, it will be uploaded to our YouTube channel shortly.

Over the past 2 months we regularly served over 100 children from 5 different partner organizations. Together, we've enjoyed time spent ice skating, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and winter hiking. We've also hosted an after-school enrichment program for our friends at the West End House twice a week right outside their building.

Although our trips may be shorter, and our group sizes smaller, we have heard time and time again from parents & teachers alike, how much of an impact we are having at this critical time for children.

Going forward we are excited to maintain our momentum into the spring. With growing partnerships in Cambridge and Boston Public Schools, we are excited to provide consistent programming at nearly twice our capacity of last year.

In the upcoming months, we'll continue to synchronize our outdoor programs with our E.A.T. initiative events. For example, next month, we'll draw attention to maple syrup as it relates to cooking as well as the trees we can find locally here in Boston. We'll begin to draw connections between the food we explore in our classes, and the nature we discover on our outdoor outings.

Please check our our MONTHLY THEMES for a better sense of how E.A.T. will tie into our regular programming in 2021.

Thank you for your continued support, and stay tuned for more happenings from Elevate Youth!
